These short clips are from the 1970s and 80s, recorded before the 'health and safety' regulations vitiated the art. Our archive contains footage from an era that marked the end of 'hard' Shotokan kumite events. Although there are still a few organizations that train in the traditional early JKA style. they are few and far between. The Karate Union of Great Britain still promotes the 'Enoeda Way' and as these clips show, there is no doubt about the combat potential of original Shotokan.
