Once again let me state that this is my personal view, albeit shared by many. There IS A PLACE FOR SPORT KARATE, but it is a sport, it is not BUDO IMO. I firmly believe that its acceptance into the Olympics will do nothing to strengthen true, traditional karate. However, I accept that there are many people who enjoy sport karate, and the two can live side by side, but let us be clear: there are so many rules and banned techniques in the sport side of the art, that it is a point scoring system with rules - anything with rules clearly has restrictions: there are no restrictions when it comes to defending ones life.
